Injury Issues, Minardi Classic Provides Opportunities

Well, it was a great defensive first half against Western Kentucky. We shut down the “3,” which was our major point of emphasis. Overall, 30 minutes of terrific defense. Below is the link for MVP and runner-ups:

We suffered a major blow to our team as our defensive leader went down with a broken foot. This is a huge blow as Mangok is the communicator both in practice and games. We will look for the silver lining and discover what it is.

Injury update:

Anas – Out. Has not practiced.

Mangok – Out 6-8 weeks.

Deng – Returned to practice, rusty, but will play vs UMKC.

The Minardi Classic will give us the opportunity to try different people, as we get ready for UK and conference play. Hope to see you at the YUM!

People have asked if I am disappointed in our crowds. I tell them that you have to understand that I was the head coach at Boston University, when you could easily count the people in the stands, so I never complain about our fans. I just thank the ones that do show up. Our schedule so far at home has been sub-par and we really appreciate the loyal fans that show up or give their tickets to people who would love to see us play.
